Select Board appoints Lt. Ricardo Lima as next police chief, effective November 2026.

HOPEDALE — The Hopedale Select Board unanimously appointed Lieutenant Ricardo Lima as Chief of Police, effective November 2026, after interviews and succession planning. Chair Scott Savage, Bernard Stock, and Glenda Hazard voted 3-0 to advance the appointment following the current chief's retirement notice. The board also unanimously approved a contract with The Collins Center at UMass for an efficiency study of all town departments except schools, with a final deliverable due in November 2026, and adopted a new Select Board Policy on Access to Town Counsel to establish consistent parameters for board and committee chairs seeking counsel assistance and improve tracking of legal expenses.
