HOPEDALE — Select Board addresses financial discrepancy discovered during audit closeout. Town Administrator Mitchell Ruscitti reported that auditor Marcum identified approximately $300,000 in discrepancies in a revolving account, leading to the discovery of roughly $84,000 in uncashed checks in an employee's desk drawer on February 4. Following consultation with KP Law employment counsel Tim Zessin, Ruscitti placed the employee on non-disciplinary, paid administrative leave to protect town financial interests and preserve insurance coverage eligibility.
Chair Scott Savage expressed disappointment with the situation, noting the absence of Select Board member Glenda Hazard, who had requested the meeting be convened on a Friday evening.
