Parks Commission Approves Invoices, Tables Pump Cost

Parks Commission · Meeting of October 15, 2026

Hopedale Parks Commission said the town's new playground will stay closed all winter. Members said contractor Mountain View warned a partial opening would be "a big mistake" while its construction equipment remains on site, work not expected to wrap until the end of November. The playground, part of a larger park project, had been targeted for July completion; a planned mid-October "soft opening" fell through because fencing still needs to go up.

The commission approved payment of monthly invoices including $2,100 for field line striping at Phillips Field, $1,510 for lake treatment, $250 for irrigation winterizing and $221 to administrative assistant Christian Ladone for hours worked. It tabled a $3,929.75 well pump estimate from Darling's Well Company until spring. A resident, Jay, urged the commission to request a warranty book from the park contractors before the project closes out.
