Park Commission approves Fairy Walk event, tables band concert request

Hopedale Park Commission approves Fairy Walk and tackles youth-sports scheduling. At its January 15 hybrid meeting, the commission, chaired by Mike Costanza with member Jay MacDonald in attendance, approved organizer Tracey Phillips's June 13 event and agreed to explore temporary handicapped parking. Hopedale Youth Baseball sought both Phillips Field fields spring Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, but Varsity Softball holds priority; both organizations will negotiate a shared schedule without town mediation.
The commission retained its Zoom meeting option despite consideration of going in-person only. A Lot A baseball field bid arrived slightly under $300,000 for three fields, fencing, netting, parking, and hut removal; Costanza will request appropriation and Select Board funding at town meeting.
