Hopedale approves $34.3M FY27 budget with tax exemption hikes

Hopedale town meeting approves $34.3M FY27 budget. The 91-voter assembly, called by Moderator Eugene N. Phillips, voted unanimously on the main operating budget of $34,341,185, which transfers $540,000 from enterprise accounts with the balance raised by taxation.

Separate water and sewer enterprise budgets of $1,934,747 and $1,929,316 also passed unanimously. The town approved a $240,000 bond authorization for a fire alarm system replacement at Memorial Elementary School and increased senior citizen tax exemptions from $953.77 to $979.52 and veterans' exemptions under Clause 22 from $412 to $423. A proposed noise ordinance amendment failed after resident objections.
