Finance Committee · Meeting of October 22, 2026

HOPEDALE — The Hopedale Finance Committee approved minutes from two prior meetings and pressed the town's finance team for unresolved answers on PAX project funding, ARPA overspending and police detail billing. Chair Ian Michelson said the committee wants an itemized statement of deposits and expenses in the PAX stabilization account, while members said ARPA funds remain overspent by "a couple hundred thousand dollars" with no resolution. A resident who gave her address as 14 Anthony Road told the committee she found what "looks like we overspent fiscal year 26 by 800,000" comparing town meeting figures, a discrepancy Michelson called something he was "trying to be a little cautious with." Member Elizabeth Callahan's draft financial policy handbook is headed for finance-team redlines, with a joint Select Board presentation targeted for January 2027.

The committee also discussed moving its recorded meetings to the library's Trustees Room and adjourned at 7:59 p.m. by unanimous vote.
